Day after day I look around and wonder what has happened to the people of the people of this country. Where is the passion of rebellion. We live in a world that is coming apart at the seams. Our freedoms not to mention our basic human rights are being rip from us. Our government is which was no prize to start with is being contolled by fascist who are gaining more and more power. The middle class is being wiped out and the gap between the heartless upper class and the working class grows by quantum leaps. Where uber rich coorperations get tax breaks and government welfare and the working class gets screwed.
This and much more is destroying the foundation of our society and shattering lives every minute of every day. But what are we doing about it. We have the occational portest march where a lot of pretty words are spoken and people get excited at least for the day. We bitch on our discussion groups. We educate ourselves. All this is wonderful but accoplishes little. Do you think those in power give a damn about any of this, do you think it effects what they do or how they think. It doesn't.
Also it seems this is the best we can do, no seems to have the guts to do more. Living in fear to take the next step. If the Revolutionary War were to take place today there would be no Tea Party, no midnight ride and no shot heard around the world. There would only be a lot of speeches and a lot of hangings. Actually don't be too sure those hangings don't start up again.
We can look around the world and see when huge injustices take place in other countries people take to the streets, they shut down businesses and whole towns. They march until something is done or at least the world knows there is a problem and things are put into motion. There is no fear, just passion to bring and end to injustice. No selfish actions to protect their comfortable little lives but a passion to change the world and make a better future for themselves and their future generations.
That kind of passion still existed here in the 60's but somehow in 40 years it has been wiped away, socially engineered out of our minds and spirits. The passion is gone and without it how do we ever expect anything to change.
Fact, it won't!
