Racism
Mood:  irritated
Now Playing: Lamia Cross
Topic: Race
Well it’s been a while but I’m back. Been battling my blood sugar. No fun kiddies.
I guess the big thing as of late has been that the world has been spinning the it normally does these days, smegged up.
A while back I promised to write more about racism from my point of view. So let me just give a little background before I start to rant.
I grew up a bigot. My family is from the South and I was mainly raised by my grandparents who had a we are “us” and they are “them” and never shall the two mix attitude about minorities. So I really didn’t know any different. I maintained this mind set up until my early 20’s where my whole mind set began to change.
With a little study and some deep thinking I came to realize that bigotry was an absurd concept and that all people biologically the same. That true difference comes from actions and pyridines of perceived reality.
We come to present day where I am spending the rest of my life together with a beautiful black woman and I am happier then I have ever been in my life.
It has also given me a very unique perspective on the world. I can now see bigotry in all it’s forms and how it is still alive and well in the world today.
Now there are little things I’ve come to ignore when my love and I are out together. The stern looks that people seem to think actually mean something to us give us. It’s mainly old white people or member of the white bourgeoisie, even have had quite a few from black men.
None of it bothers me on a normal basis but when it’s time to sit down and talk about it what bothers me is the simple fact that here in the 21st century it still exists at all. What I find even more bothersome is he fact that it seems to be on the rise again.
Now it’s always been established that blacks will always face bigotry in the southeastern states, for some reason they just can’t seem to get over it and it continues with each generation. Then you have the southwestern states that face problems with immigration and tend to have hostile attitudes against those from Central and South America. Then of course there are so many in the United States that hate those people from the Middle East. So much hatred directed at anyone different by people that don’t want to see the facts of diversity.
We also allow groups such as the KKK, Aryan Nation and the so-called Minutemen that act as vigilantly border agents. All of these cowardly groups running around spreading hate are still allowed to exist. Now I’m not saying that these groups shouldn’t be allowed to practice free speech. Everyone should always have that right. However a price needs to be paid for such hate. A way to make it difficult for these groups to operate. It’s sad to think it’s even necessary to have to find such a way, but I fear that it must if we are ever going to move forward as the human race.
Now I want to address the hatred that is focused at each group of people individually.
To begin with I’ll start with the one I know best now and that’s blacks. Many of these racist cowards claim some type of racial superiority and try and back it with flimsy pseudo science that some researcher somewhere claims to have found, Well of course there are racist scientist (which is a contradiction in itself) and any well trained half intelligent researcher can manufacture evidence to try and prove anything. In the end it’s all nonsense. If anyone really studied the subject of racial differences they would find that on a genetic level all people are the same. That any differences come from environmental factors as each race evolved in their part of the world and nothing more.
Then we have those that use religious reasons for their hatred. In particular a part of the bible that refers to “mud people”. These “good christians” that believe this are extremely ignorant. First this mud people reference is a metaphor. Second everything in your religion came from people from the Middle East and northern Africa. Your supposed prophets and gospel authors where these people which means they weren’t white. Theories just shot down with ease.
We then go to those people that feel blacks don’t need special laws to protect them or that blacks have no right to still be upset about slavery and not having equal rights in this country.
First off as long as racism exists among the majority of this country special anti-hate laws will need to exist and this goes for all minorities. Until discrimination no longer exists there needs to be special protections.
I have heard too often in my life white people say “Why are blacks still upset about slavery. I never owned a slave “ or “Why should I have to deal with blacks being upset about discrimination, I never discriminated against anyone.” Now these statement are true but they are also stupid. Now I agree much of the hard feelings blacks have is misdirected by simply targeting it against a random white person. It’s just as bad as hating another race just because they are that color. But the fact is blacks still have ever right in the world to have those feelings. I would like to see how these white people would feel if someone came to their ancestors home countries killed many of their relatives then forced the rest into leaky boats and taken to another country and made slaves. These people also need to look at history and see that the oppressed have always harbored negative feelings for their oppressors for great lengths of time even after being freed, it’s human nature.
Slavery existed in this country for a very long time. Many generations of blacks found themselves as slaves for white Americans. Generations to build up hatred for those that held them under foot. Now legal slavery ended in the U.S. in 1865, though freed, most slaves had no where to go so they stayed on the plantations working under the same conditions just now for substandard wages. Freedom also didn’t end discrimination that blacks had to face so there was really little change. Now 1865 seems like a long time but for families and generations that followed it isn’t. 143 years in the big picture of this country isn’t that any kind of time to put that kind of past behind oneself. Then of course blacks weren’t granted equal rights until just under 40 years ago and of course equal rights didn’t come with a lack of discrimination that still exist to this very day. So what this all means is you may have never owned a slave or even discriminated against anyone but for blacks in the U.S. these things are still very fresh wounds and when wounded anyone will strike out against those things that wounded it. In pain it may not always be the exact right thing but when in pain one doesn’t really always think rationally.
On to the question of Central and Southern American immigrants. This is simple but there are very few that are willing accept the truth. To start with yes it is true that illegal immigration is a strain on economy and creates cuts in wages in many industries because these immigrants are willing to work for lower wages there is no denying these facts. However let’s look at the reasoning behind why there is such an influx of people willing to break laws to survive by entering the U.S. illegally. The Government of the U.S. allows corporations to run their factories in these countries where they are allowed to pay slave wages and are not required to provide employees with any types of benefits or even decent working conditions. The U.S. government does push these other countries to increase workers standards even though U.S. corporations run their factories there. The U.S. Government does nothing to help prop up the economies of these countries even though it would help increase the economy of the U.S. Then there is the interference of the U.S. government in South American countries’ governments allowing and arming wars and revolutions in these countries to help install leadership that would be friendly to U.S. companies even if they are brutal dictators that oppress their own people.
Now if you have no future, you and your children are starving and there is no other place to turn wouldn’t you do whatever you needed to in order to help save yourself and your family. Now the big one that most turn away from ever time. This is the fact that a huge majority of treaties the U.S. government signed with the people of Central American and the native people were never honored by the U.S. government. So legally most of the Southwest still belongs to these people. I know it would be extremely difficult to do so now but from a legal viewpoint it is a fact.
Now I am going to make this last one short simply because this Blog has been 4 months in the writing and I know I will breach the subject again at some point.
People in the U.S. hating the people of the Middle- East because of the terrorist is like the people of Africa hating all Americans because of the KKK.
Think about it !
I’ll be back soon with more intelligent insights.
Tah for now.
